Try 'ldapsearch -x uid=<your identifier/loginname>'

Do you know which debian package provides ldapsearch?

http://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=contents&keywords=ldapsearch&mode=pat
h&suite=stable&arch=any

You can also install auto-apt and use that to find out what package provides what you're looking for:

----
# aptitude install auto-apt
(...)
# auto-apt update
(...)
# auto-apt search ldapsearch
usr/bin/ldapsearch net/ldap-utils
----

auto-apt has more tricks up its sleeves. See 'man auto-apt' for more info.
