Problem 1 seemed to resolved itself for me automatically. Not sure quite
what happened there.
Anyway, good to know that someone else is having the same issue with the
latest version of the support module.

I can confirm problem 2, but not problem 1.
I use OTRS 2.4.6 installed from source. When I update the _working_
support module from 1.0.95 to 1.0.96 I get the same error like you,

The error is reproducible, I think it's a bug in support 1.0.96.
Please create a bug report and post the id or wait for me doing so
within the next days. At the moment I'm still analyzing this.
Additionally I got the following cron job error, but only once in 3
tries :
Can't find string terminator "'" anywhere before EOF at
/opt/otrs/Kernel/Config/Files/ZZZAAuto.pm line 4212.
Compilation failed in require at /opt/otrs/Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm
line 2331.
