Let me know how you get it working. Maybe I'll take another stab at it on linux as well. We run mostly windows anyway, so it hasn't been an issue. I only noticed the speed difference when editing the system configuration.

Subject: [otrs] OTRS on linux vs windows
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for all your comments and information. Based on that, I think we will go for linux in that case, although I will also need to find a way to set up single signon with it.

Thanks again,

We have been using 2.4.x on Windows with no issues for about a year
now. I tested with both Windows and linux at the time. The linux
system was noticeably faster when dealing with system parameters,
but I couldn't get the active directory authentication working
correctly under linux at the time (even with same config information
from working windows box), so ended up on Windows since AD
authentication was a very important requirement.

I've run OTRS 2.x and now 3.x on Windows 2003 as well as
                2008 for a
couple of years with relatively few problems, certainly
                nothing like
what Jan experienced. Our biggest problem has been
                growth of the
                database in MSSQL 2005.

I also had some problems with the size of the database, but
fortunately OTRS now allows me to put attachments into the
            filesystem,
thus keeping the DB small and tidy
