Hey I just had a thought- have you tried *making* some dummy files called "Network" in 
various folders? Say, just empty text files...

1st : loose in System Folder
2nd: inside Extensions folder.

Then see if it can replace them! But I do agree with the answer that 8.6 is probably 
too new. But you don't have to install 7.5.3 on your machine, another one that you may 
have access to wil be fine. Then you can siphon off the actual extensions that the 
installer installs and put them in your 8.6 System Folder.
Come to think of it, have you tried TomeViewer, or Stuffit Deluxe to view inside the 
installer? What kind of installer is it? If you don't know then see if you can find 
it's Type and Creator codes.
