Scott,
Fan noises tend to be more mechanical rather than buzzy (paticularly electrical buzzy). I have heard power supplies buzz before, but believe it or not, it is not a sign of impending failure. Power supplies can pop and buzz and still function normally. Others pop and buzz momentarily (or for a short time) before they terminate.
The only thing I can suggest is to try to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from. That shouldn't be too hard given the ease with which the case opens (a great plus about Macs!).
Good Luck!

Hi Everyone,
My G4 (400mhz Sawtooth graphite coloured) has started buzzing all of a sudden. It seems to cycle in a pattern of:
quiet; buzzing at 1 pitch; buzzing at 2 pitches; buzzing at just the 2nd pitch; quiet again
The sound changes at an interval of about 20-30 seconds and is very irritating. I'm not sure if it's the fan or the drive or what. Maybe something else is loose? Any ideas?
Regards,
Scott
