Hey Outbackers,

I have got a spot on this AppleScript course run by Shane Stanley - who normally doesn't do any training in Australia at all. This is a great opportunity to expand your AppleScript knowledge ... I am just passing the info on here - I'm not getting any rewards/benefits from doing so, FYI.

APPLESCRIPT 2 DAY TRAINING COURSE
We've been lucky enough to get hold of Shane Stanley from Melbourne, who doesn't actually run any training courses in Australia, for a weekend in January to provide some Applescript training for us. To help cover costs I have 3 seats available in a class of 8. Everyone will have their own computer to use and hopefully we'll be getting very hands-on.

Here is a link to the seminars that Shane is involved in America for Scripting Matters: http://www.scriptingmatters.com/aspro.

If you're interested please let me know -- as it's first in best dressed.

DAY 1: STARTING OUT WITH APPLESCRIPT
Covers the essentials for getting started in scripting. This day not only introduces newcomers to the basics of scripting, but it also makes an ideal refresher for experienced scripters. It will cover components, ScriptEditor, dialogs, conditionals, saving scripts, repeating, referring to files, handlers, scripting the Finder, subroutines, and further resources. A CD including the relevant scripts will be included.

DAY 2: SCRIPTING APPLICATIONS & WORKING WITH DATA
Day Two will cover some of the more advanced techniques -- text manipulation, reading and writing files, plus a quick look at shell scripting and GUI scripting in OSX. That leaves about 3/4 to 2/3 of a day, based around applications -- a time to put the theory into action. We'll be working with QuarkXPress, Illustrator and FileMaker Pro.

DATE: Saturday 15 January and Sunday 16 January 2005. 10.30am-5.30pm (TBA)

LOCATION: Weldon Owen Publishing, 59 Victoria St, McMahons Point, NSW.

CONTACT/MORE INFORMATION: Margaret, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Ph (02) 9963 9512.

Per list ettiquette I have removed the cost of the course, you could email myself for that or go straight to Margaret. It is a pretty 'normal' fee for a decent two day seminar, if I can say that much :-)
