The Web Services developer participates in the design of web services for TrackWise EQMS implementations, including: - Integration of TrackWise with external systems such as ERP, MES, LIMS, PLM TrackWise Web Services API - Extension of TrackWise core capabilities for individual TrackWise implementations through the use of web services The Web Services developer (WSD) participates in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements definition through to deployment and customer handover. The WSD is responsible for participating in application design sessions, producing both technical and customer-facing documentation, development and testing of the application in coordination with consultants, and final delivery and promotion to production. A successful candidate will have experience in leading projects both independently and while supervising junior Web Services developers. *Duties and Responsibilities:* 1. Participate in customer requirements gathering and design meetings. 2. Produce conceptual design approaches using a standardized methodology, such as UML. 3. Develop functional requirements defining the desired behavior of a chosen design approach. 4. Produce technical design documents for a chosen design and continue to maintain such documentation throughout the development lifecycle. 5. Develop software changes in accordance with design specifications in order to meet system functional requirements. 6. Review design and code of junior web services developers and provide feedback and verification support. 7. Produce more efficient ways to solve code or design issues 8. Work with development team to ensure code is well organized and conforms to applicable coding standards. 9. Perform all levels of testing: unit, functional, system, and integration to ensure all requirements and quality standards are met. 10. Support internal practice development activities including the continued development of coding standards, procedures, and protocols related to the delivery of web service customizations. *Qualifications:* 1. BA/BS degree (or equivalent) minimum (Computer Science or related field). 2. Minimum 5 years of experience as a software developer for Web-based applications. 3. Proven experience leading junior developers in a customer environment. *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:* 1. Experience/*expertise in coding web services in Java* 2. Experience with Windows XP; Windows Vista and 7 experience a plus. 3. Experience with *MS Office Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, and Project*. 4. Experience with common *RDBMS technologies including MS SQL Server and Oracle; specific experience with MS SQL Server 2005, 2008, and Oracle 10g or 11g a plus. * 5. General understanding of computing and computers; knowledge of key hardware and software components, software development practices and principles. 6. Understanding of typical IT infrastructure; hardware specifications, networking and routing, communication protocols (TCP/IP), authentication, security. 7. Excellent logical and analytical skills. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to change communication style based on the audience. 9. Leadership skills and ability to act as a trusted advisor. 10. Experience with other tracking software systems, document management systems or other quality management software tools *(i.e. ERP, MES, EDMS, and QMS). * 11. Experience working with or implementing Documentum, *SharePoint, LiveLink, SAP, Crystal Reports, TrackWise, and business intelligence tools a plus. * 12. Working knowledge of standards web service standards: *XML, SOAP, XML-REST, WSDL* 13. Working knowledge of at least one of the following *(SAP, SharePoint, C#, SQL)* 14. Experience in Apache Tomcat or an equivalent application server technology 15. Ability to time manage and work for multiple projects at any given period 16. Life sciences experience beneficial. 17.
