This will require a new hardware, Linux OS and a new version of TSM 6.2. *Requirements:* * * 1.) Catalogue current production TSM load, ie., TSM load capacity for each TSM Server including overall database sizing, total storage, nightly backup, network capacity and virtual tape throughput. 2. Evaluate new production hardware and determine the capacity/configuration to handle current load and allow for growth in light of item1. 3.) Disaster Recover: Evaluate hardware/software for cross-data center recovery. 4.) Install/Configure TSM 6.2 on new hardware *Functions:* * * -- Serves as technical consultant in the area of TSM 6.2 -- Review and ensure Backup policies support currently in-place policies for retention and backup frequency. -- Provide direction for installation, configuration and support of storage, backup and disaster recovery environments. -- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning -- Ensure proper alerting for the backup environment, backup jobs, and data replication are in place. -- Plan, recommend and implement strategies relating to TSM 6.2 installation. -- Participate in project meetings; develop specifications based on project requirements. -- Regulate storage and backup request process and ensure appropriate use of computing resources. -- Oversee storage provision, monitor system, forecast future storage demands, conduct performance tuning, system controls, and documentation. -- Install, configure, upgrade troubleshoot issues -- Implement TSM best practices for the backup and storage areas.
