Clearly, you know the syntax for using owfs, and you are able to run it on your desktop.
The ASUS has USB ports, and I know from edxperience you can use USB adapters for owfs.
You want to use a USB->serial adapter and the LINK45.
I personally have only tested the earlier LINK. Does the LINK45 work on the desktop?
I have gotten owfs to work with USB->serial adapters, but it depends on the adapter. Does it work with your desktop?
The USB->serial will depend on the right adapter. Can you test function on the ASUS in some other way?
Finally, calling owfs on the ASUS with --error_level=9 --foreground should generate some feedback on startup. Can you post it?

IU know it works with a DS9490 USB adapter.
What are you using for device name? /dev/ttyUSB0 ?
Will it function on a desktop machine? (The USB->serial adapter and OWFS?)
