Paul,

Can you add a command line option to create a pid file for those of us 
in unix-land. It's nice but not necessary to clean up the file on normal 
termination and simple kill. This is really useful to be able to see if 
there is already an instance running. I'm moving from owfs to owserver, 
and want to put some smarts in the startup scripts and create shutdown 
scripts as well.

This is a low priority, I can certainly work around it to create the 
pidfile external to the programs.
