Hello! We've gone all over this many times before. I know, I started a thread and watched it evolve past its prime, but it seems to have surfaced yet again.
On the RJ11 PDF that Maxim-IC/Dallas has prepared, (and is available there someplace) it describes which two wires are chosen as the One-Wire data lead and the return lead. On the connector end of the cable, it turns out that the team back there is correct. However unless you've made the cables yourself be careful. There is a problem called "rolling", and it normally happens with RJ45 attached cables, made up for the phone networks, it happens that the lead for One at one end gets swapped with Eight. In my case it was a twist in the cable attached to the connector, red for green in this case. I have two specially made up for this work, but I decided to create a third just for the purposes of making up breadboard based applications, and that's where it happened. I need to remind myself that at the board end the leads are reversed. This work is in the same area as the items you've got under projects under my name on the www.owfs.org site. -- Gregg C Levine [EMAIL PROTECTED] "This signature was once found posting rude messages in English in the Moscow subway." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
