Many thanks for that, I now have a message that owfs is enabled, but I
cannot get any further.

Following the notes from Tomasz Korwel

it all seems OK until the line
comp# /opt/owfs/bin/owfs /dev/ttyS0 /var/1-Wire/mnt

I assume that this is calling the owfs executable and he has it
in /opt/owfs/bin/
My /opt/ is empty even though the messages at the end of configure say 

    Deployment location: /opt/owfs

What am I doing wrong?
