Thanks Bill,

yes, I knew about the power supply, but it was unclear to me how to
determine the overall power-consumption of all the slaves on the bus.

I found the maximum current for a DS18B20 being active is 1.5mA - with
15 (at the moment) this would be 22.5mA. So far so good.

But for the DS2408, I wasn't sure at the time, what my overall
consumption with IO would be. So I decided to use the 5V of my PC.

But of course, it is a good thought to check what happens using the LINK
internal power-supply! So why don't I just go ahead and do that?

I will post the results!

Can you tell me what other meaning the red LED on the LINK has, than
indicating communication and a short from Data to GND (which I found out
while testing an iButton-reader - if the button is not applied right,
one can actually short the data-pin with GND).

Because when all my slaves disappear once in a while, the LED is on red
continuously. I still can communicate to the LINK and I dont have to
restart owfs at all to get it back up and running again. I just have to
toggle the external 5V. But i will try using the internal power-supply
for now, and see if there is a change.

My best regards,

Martin Patzak
