As one wire is shrinking, it would be good to consider owfs servicing
other devices with similar serial bus structures. Being able to bring
i2c or other devices into the same owfs systems would be sweet.
I'm using it in a data acquisition system. Having previously built
drivers and infrastructure for reading various OW devices, being able to
finally use owfs is a great relief!
I did see support for the AGG weather instrument a while ago which
seemed a good idea. If only I could afford one shipped in Australia J
My small network has settled down well over the years. I personally
think some of the usb adapters are better than others in terms of long
term reliability as I have not had to reboot my server for a very long
time.
If you mean the DS2490 the chip is problematic with bus faults,
especially shorts. The next lightning storm may be its last :) However
I read that Maxim is considering continuing to support a USB to 1-wire
solution (but, I am a skeptic).
