It's made from ds2482-800 and atmega8 as the usb-i2c converter. The main advantage it's easy tu build it at home and has integrated 8 port hub. However I for now I can't tell You if it's a good solution. I have a schematic(I can post it if You want) and half of the circuit soldered on universal board. I have also build another device with DS2480b (1wire-serial) and FT232 (usb-serial). I also use DS2480b connected directly to serial port of a wireless router and both work fine for about a 1.5 years. So if you are looking for ready to use device choose DS2480B with FT232 converter. There may be other serial-usb but FTDI chip seems to be very reliable. I'm not an expert but Maxim/Dallas recommends ESD protections diodes for 1-wire network maybe Your setup lack those diodes and some discharges damaged your network. Or maybe just my network is not very exposed to those dangers.
