Ok, after some work, I think I have rudimentary support for the DS2483 in
the next release.
1. There are 4 i2c adaptors, the DS2482-100 DS2482-101 DS2482-800 and the
DS2483.
2. The DS2482-100 and DS2482-101 seem to be indistinguishable via software
(except the '101 can only be assigned to a subset of the '100 i2c
addresses).
3. The '800 is distinguished by trying to assign a channel -- only the '800
has multiple channels.
4. The DS2483 has an additional register for configuration, but I don't
have a test bed to see if I can distinguish it using the i2c library.
5. The newer version will have some debug code added so that we can see if
the newest chip responds differently.
6. The PPM -- pulse presence mask bit seen on onlder versions of the
datasheep for the DS2482-xxx chips is the same as the PDN -- powerdown for
the DS2483.
7. A device reset seems to put all the chips in working mode, so that's the
quick fix.
