I have been having this same issue intermittently. Mine sometimes come back on its own. I have not tried rebooting as the system does a lot of other stuff that I don't want to stop. Is it expected that a misbehaving device on the bus will cause the USB master (the 81.xxxxxx) device to disappear also? I suppose the next time it happens I could try disconnecting the bus altogether and see if the 81.xxxxxxx device comes back.
