I checked with linux-3.10.28, a single DS18S20, 1kOhm external pullup to
3.3V, chip powered 5V, w1-gpio and a small test script and checked with
a scope.
The script continously reads uncached and prints the result. It never
stalls, however, it returns the chip directory twice in about one of
three hundred reads and none at all in one of a thousand reads. So I
won't use this circuit without further tweaking.
