Several months back I posted about a system lock up problem, Pi 3 running owserver etc 3.1p5 with Sheepwalk RPi3 adapter and RPi3a splitters giving me 8 busses. All devices are powered, separately from the Pi.  I use python code and pyownet to monitor and control a mixture of about 35 DS1820 and DS2413

The problem was that I would loose all busses and it needed a power cycle of the 1-wire to get it going again.

After trying a few things to fix it I replaced the longest cable run, which had a couple of joints in it.  It then worked, but in order to try to tied down exactly what the problem was I set up a second Pi, as near as possible just like the first, and used the old suspect cable run.  Logically one of them should have failed as the fault should still be there on one of them.  Neither failed for several months, the second one sill hasn't.

Last week the main Pi failed again, I could not investigate at the time so power cycles and it ran again.

Today it has failed again, same problem, loose all busses.  This time I power cycled the 1-wire but left the Pi running, the fault remained.  I then rebooted the Pi without further power cycle of Pi or 1-wire and it started up again.

I really have no idea what to do next.  Any suggestions on how I can find out what is causing this.  I am considering using another Pi to detect the problem and auto power cycle the main one, but this does not sound like a good solution so I am open to suggestions

Thanks

Mick
