Folks, a friend's PC gave him some kind of "CPU Fan fault" error when it was
booting, from then on Windows dies at the blue screen with STOP code
0x0000007B. Lord knows how these two things are related, or if it's just a
coincidence, but in any case I was searching for way of coaxing Windows into
life. Web searches so far indicate that my changes are zero to nothing.

 

I've reseated the plugs and fiddled with BIOS Settings and set Fan Speed to
Ignored but it makes no difference. I was looking for a way of settings the
BIOS to safe defaults but it doesn't seem to have one.

 

Anyway, before I format and reinstall I thought I'd ask first if anyone has
ideas on defeating the dreaded BSOD 7B.
