Hi David

No Aero issue as I am on Windows XP

I move the drive between my work and home computers, and it happens on both
- so I suspect it isn't the computer itself

I am starting to think it must be something faulty about the hard drive.

I just tried clearing the paging file at shut down, but it hasn't helped

The last time that happened to me systematically it ended up being a bunch
of deferred procedure calls because caused by the GPU in turn being caused
by it overheating because the heat exchanger on the fan for the GPU was
clogged with dust.

Turn Aero off for a day and see if the problem goes away.

Hi All

Can anyone advise corrective action for a computer that becomes
unresponsive? - Seemingly having something to do with the hard drive
activity

The disk light is on and the disk is whirring

Task manager shows no stress on the CPU or memory

At regular intervals my computer becomes unresponsive for a minute or so

Thanks

Kirsten
