Move the drive? As in an external drive? USB? eSata? In that case it could be the cable or the case and not the drive itself.
If its esata, you should be able to look out for any SMART errors that would indicate a faulty drive. Either that or listen for "bad" noises coming from the drive. For corruption, the built in winxp error checking would be good enough to find them.
