Trying just running the larger file. You might be able to upgrade the installation. I know that you can upgrade from Express to Standard or Enterprise this way (i.e. without uninstalling first)

That's the page I remember where I originally found my installers for Express R2, but I took the 74MB 'Database Only' file and installed that, never thinking that I'd need any of the advanced stuff. It looks like I'll have to uninstall the whole lot of SQL Server Express 2008 and reinstall with the 895MB file. These look like independent installers with no incremental additions. Thanks Greg
