Sheesh! How do normal suburban carbon blobs migrate to a new machine.

They use this:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-easy-t
ransfer

How does a carbon blob know this exists? I've never heard of it.

Does it migrate someone OutLook Express files to Windows 7 where no mail
client is available, then decide to use Outlook 2007, export to pst from the
old machine, move to the new one and discovers "insufficient memory" send
failures caused by the pst being too large, then create a second pst to
archive old email to free space, compact the pst and get things working
again?

Does it migrate all of the settings for Abode Technical Suite and coordinate
the license de/activation on the machines.

Can it overcome my problems with iTunes and Kodak EasyShare where the
catalogues have been mysteriously migrated when they're not wanted and file
locations are totally misaligned?

Then what about Word templates, email account settings and passwords,
printers, cable modems, etc?

For your average suburban slob a machine upgrade probably requires expert
help. For a techie like me I have to reserve at least three 12 hour days to
get back to a comfortable environment. Easy Transfer looks cute, but is it
more than a fart in a hurricane of migration problems?
