Folks, I just installed my fresh-out-of-the-box DELL U2711 LCD monitor which
has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. Unfortunately the screen is
unreadable as everything looks "squashed" ... like when you shrink an image
and lose information.

The DELL is on the digital and my LG is on the VGA. I've installed the
latest drivers for my GeForce GT 240 video card but it makes no difference.
The specs of the GT 240
<http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gt_240_us.html> say it can go
up to 2560 x 1600 on digital and 2048 x 1536 on VGA. I've fiddled with the
monitor's controls but there isn't anything that looks helpful.

I just don't know what to blame for the fault. This is my "dream monitor"
and it's an instant nightmare. Any ideas anyone? Do I need a better video
card?

Thanks, Greg

P.S. I stuck a photo of the problem here: (pardon the interlaced
interference, but you can still see the squashed-up characters in Explorer)
