I bought my first SSD in Sept '09 (128GB OCZ Vertex) for around A$500. Even at that price, I would say it's good value. The performance delta vs. the old drive and improvement in my feelings about using a computer in general justified the price IMHO. These days, you seem to be able to get good SSDs for <$1/GB, which is great value IMHO.
