Yes, it releases the ip address, are you referencing the machine by its up address? You should be using the name, so it does not matter, I have a couple of dev vms that stay off most of the time

I guessed you'd just shut it down to save costs and stop sucking useless electrons out of the cloud, but when I try that through the portal it warns me that the VIP public IP address will be released, which sounds undesirable. It sounds like the DNS might be disrupted, but I'm only guessing. Anyone know for sure? -- Greg P.S.
