If the two servers have a spare NIC, connect a cable directly between them. Then create an ftp server on each that will only listen on that specific NIC. You probably wouldn't need any real security between them but I'm not expert in that regard.
It would be easier if you could do the same with file sharing but I'm not sure you can limit it to a specific subnet.
