Hi Folks,

One for the local brains trust:

I create WinPE boot disks on three different types of USB sticks. One type
boots afterwards (every time), the other two types doesn’t. I’m struggling with
what is different.

· I’ve tried them formatted as either FAT32 or NTFS

· I’ve tried removing an existing partition from them first, and
letting the creation app (in this case Macrium Reflect) create them from scratch

Every time, one type of USB stick works, the other two types don’t. I’m
struggling to think of what else can be different.

Curiously, when I boot the 2nd type, the laptop returns “No operating system”.
With the 3rd type, it says “Missing operating system”. I would have expected
the same words coming back from the same laptop. That has me puzzled too. I
would have thought those words would be coming back from the BIOS so I’m
wondering what different path leads to that. (Perhaps it’s from the boot sector
of the USB sticks).

Any thoughts welcome !

Regards,

Greg
