I don't have a cable tester. I should have tested the cable with the phone on the bench, before I spent 20 minutes crawling under the house. But then again, who would expect a cable right out of the packet not to work? I think I'll waste more time extracting the cable, put it back in the original packet (which is in the bin), drive back to Jaycar to get an identical replacement, then try that on the bench. If that doesn't work then it's the type of cable or the length. What a waste of time and money.
