  | Hello Belinda
  |
  | ACMI does have a number of philosophy and poisition statements.
  | Within section 3.0.0
  | regarding midwifery practice,
  | statement 3.4.0 relates to
  | Planned Out of Hospital Births.
  | "Midwives who are conducting planned out of hospital births are responding
  | to a need idendtified by the community.
  | ACM recognises the right of healthy women to choose the place to give
birth.
  | The College considers that it is the quality and nature of midwifery care
  | provided at planned out of hospital births which is of prime importance and
  | it is our concern that the highest possible standards of midwifery are
  | maintained in all areas of practice. Therefore, we believe that the
  | midwives working in this area should be those who are accredited
  | Independently Practising Midwives."
  |
  | I'm not sure if this statement has been updated in recent years, perhaps
  | Trish David could comment
  |
  | Cheers
  |
