The Senate inq. went exceedingly well in Sydney, from the midwives point of view. The notion of horizontal violence would have been on the senators' minds because the final submission they heard for the day was from an obstetrician..... a scathing attack on midwives who were deemed to be old and practising or too old and useless to practice and therefore academic..and were all engaged in HV!!!! the senators listened and I guess thought it should be addressed the next time they spoke with midwives. The Sydney hearing followed a very similar direction to that followed in melbourne i gather.
