Found some interesting reading over the weekend. Some good, some laughable.
The good was in the GoodWeekend (age mag - sat paper), an article on
micro-prem babies titled 'Too little, too soon'. Find it incredible what
technology can do, although I worry that we have gone too far at times.
Find it amazing that my mother had a 33 weeker in the 60's that died - it
was prem! These days it would be a breeze.

The laughable - Sunday Herald Sun (Vic) - p 36. 'Doctors afraid of birth
risks', pretty much the normal regarding the obs profession and how
expensive it is. But I liked the paragraph that said,
'Doctors fear the shortage of obstetricians means more women will be
forced to give birth in public hospitals.'

Being a public hospital midwife, as well as having both my boys in one, I
certainly didn't consider myself 'forced' there. The main complaint was the
food! (really shocking). But I was home to my own kitchen quick smart
anyhow. Gave me a bit of a smile for the morning.
