Hi all
I was feeling pretty yuk what with one thing and another. Of less importance
is that I'm supposed to be going to Brisbane for the ACMI conference and
chose to fly with guess who! There are always positives and in the gloom of
all these disasters Jacky Mawson, a 'VBAC' mother, Birthrites etc get on the
front page of the local newspaper. Jacky what would we do without your
energy! Then, I open the Weekend Australian and because I just can't bear
any more of the USA debacle and the bomb all of them mentality and went
straight to the Careers Section (looking for a new one perhaps) and there
we all are. From all over Australia we had Jan Robinson, Jenny Paratt
Andrea Bilcliff and me give our two cents worth about midwifery. I didn't
know who else had been interviewed by the paper and so couldn't compare
notes but we all spoke the same language and shared the same philosophy! It
just warms me up to think that no matter what the distances or how hard it
gets we are there, won't go away and we will continue to tell the world
about our passion - midwifery, and women's birthing rights. Most
importantly there were 'consumers' (I just love that phrase) Lynne and Chris
Grose telling the world what midwives really do and what it is to have their
'own' midwife.
PS Jenny Do you want my 15 minute slot at the conference, I think we follow
each other . You can speak for me - we'd probably say much the same
things!!!
