Has anyone on the list heard of boiling breastmilk when a woman has mastitis?
What for?
The common form of mastitis is interstitial and is an
inflammatory process of the interstitial tissues (not affecting the
milk at all.)
If the woman has the rarer form of INFECTIVE mastitis (diagnosed
by foul-smelling, discoloured appearance or breast-milk culture) then
the milk must be expressed and discarded until the INFECTION has been
cured.
Boiling would just be a waste of time and effort, changing the
protein components and killing the living antibodies. Who does
this?
