Also, even if women do require a medicalised birth, we should never forget to
honour them, treat them with dignity and not in the way that many women
are treated in our hospital systems. I believe that the milk of human
kindness is missing in many peoples hearts. Let us restore that and many of
the feelings of alienation will disappear. Seasons greetings to you
all, Mary Murphy.
Here Here!! I have seen first hand the
lack of respect and the cruelty of medicalised birth. This in itselt
makes Homebirth look so much more attractive and sanctified!!
If the hospitals did not give themselves
such a bad name then women would not be turning away in droves as they are
going to continue to do. Until there is some great change in
attitude.
If the hospital staff and ob's were to
stop and say "If that were me what would I want? How would I like to
be treated?" Perhaps then they would improve. My moto for the
day - treat others as you yourself would want to be treated...Is that not a
basic rule of life!!
All of those who are trying to make changes and
are great advocates for women please take no offense as I am not saying that
none of you do - there are many who have that sort of empathy and care
needed.
Regards
Rhonda.
