Title: Re: activism
So tell me how do this women stay focused when there is so much negativatity.????

I’m sure Jan will answer, but from personal experience I think the key is being allowed to go inside ourself when labouring. It’s when we are continually pulled outside ourselves to be reminded of the possible ‘risks’ involved that we lose our focus. Our trusted midwife can provide the ‘buffer’ to allow us to do this. It seems that not only Jan, but the other staff and the supportive doctor also respected this woman’s space.

I love hearing all the empowered births that the List provides. It just so puts a smile on my face for the rest of the day – sorta balances out some of the experiences I hear about through the support group I run. Having said that, there is nothing that makes me more ecstatic than hearing of a woman in our group that achieves an empowered birth after a traumatic previous birth... Now that puts a smile on my face for a week!!!

Thankyou Jan, and all the other midwives, doctors and obstetricians that support physiological birth – even against such odds as a previous caesarean, or two, or three... And where that isn’t possible, thank you for supporting empowered birth in whatever form the labour/birth unfolds. Please continue to be ‘with women’. Your karma’s will be unmeasurable!!!

Too many Gods;
            so many creeds,
            Too many paths
             that wind and
                 wind,
            When just the art
             of being kind
             Is all the sad
              world needs...
