I can imagine it to be a difficult journey to assist those couples towards an empowering birth.

Yes Julie it is a difficult journey, but one of the most rewarding isn't when these couples do go onto an empowering birth??? I find such circumstances to be most challenging to me as a CBE/facilitator.....to work with people and explore deeply where their fears...their perceptions..beliefs...assumptions come from. Pam Horowitz's book 'birthing from within' I found a great guide to some of this work of 'questioning our assumptions' Pam's gentle execrise of a personal exploration of our 'birth legacy' is really powerful in what it can open people up to and to be motivated to explore further why it is they hold such beliefs.....Its great stuff !!
