Hi, You may have noticed that breastfeeding has had a lot of attention in the media lately. Australian Breastfeeding Association had the rare opportuntiy to make a TV ad promoting breastfeeding. (you can see it on www.breastfeeding.asn.au) Initially it was given a PG rating, meaning it was not suitable to be viewed by children without adult supervision. (too much "nudity" ie breast) ABA put out a press release on Monday. From 6.45 AM Tuesday my phone did not stop ringing for the next 48 hrs., nor did the phone at ABA Head office) The media and public support was unprecedented. This afternoon I received a press release from FACTS informing me that due to the weight of public opinion they had decided to give the ad a G (general exhibition) rating.
The receptionist at ABA head office today informed me that the calls today were unanimously supportive of breastfeeding and ABA The launch of the ad will be at the Royal Women's Hospital, Carlton on Monday March 25th at 12.30 pm (lunch included) Please feel welcome to attend, but let me know so we can cater for your lunch. And thanks for your support Love, Barb Barb Glare Mum of Zac, 8, Daniel, 6 and Cassie 3 Husband Chris Counsellor Warrnambool Group, Vic Qualified 1996.
