Maxine Our current policy is for support people to wait outside until the epidural is inserted. However it is a double standard as support people are usually present when the epidural is inserted in labour ward. Nobody can give me a good reason for this so we will continue to pursue the matter whilst also trying to change the rules about separating mother and baby in recovery. Hope someone else can come up with some evidence to change current practice. Regards Jane
