Hi macha Just realised you may be asking for particular reasons besides lactation - stress is a big factor -my periods plain disappeared when My nephew was killed and stayed away for more than a year -the whole year was horrendous. I think our bodies are amazing - when they are pumping beyond capacity, they simply have to shut down systems and reproduction probably isnt a great option under stress - I think it is rather like the shutting down of hormones when we meet fear in labour - fight and flight hormones OR reproductive hormones -one cancels the other. Whats the longest amount of time you've heard of women > resuming menstruation after breastfeeding? Are there any disorders (ex. > hormonal, premature menopause) that women can get postnatal/post > breastfeeding that would cause menstruation to cease?
