I am all for co-sleeping and have done it at times with my 2 babes.
I believe that women in hospital who have had narcotics post caesarean should be supervised while the baby is in the bed/feeding. The recommendations about smoking, recreational drugs etc, is relevant in this case, as narcotics will make the mother especially drowsy.

Subject: Cosleeping

While pregnant (first time) last year I read 'Three in a Bed' by Deborah Jackson.  It covers all of the questions about how to go about cosleeping, and what other cultures do.  I found it gave me the confidence to sleep with my  baby despite all the 'advice' and criticism, as well as knowledge and understanding.  I would recommend it to any new or soon-to be parents, or for libraries.  I found it in the birthing centre's (small) library - what a great idea, a library of birthing/parenting books at the birthing centre, which women can borrow during pregnancy!
