Subject: Re: [ozmidwifery] Maternity
Crisis in WA Peel Region
Lois
Mel and I listened to local talkback radio, and
despaired. The news is sad when it means women's choices are
restricted. But what was particularly disheartening was all the talk was
about doctors and anaesthetists (and shortages thereof), and dr's having too
many women to care for.
Mel and I were shouting at the radio
telling them that what they needed were more midwives, encouraging women to
have their babies at home etc.
As you quite rightly say - perhaps we
could use this as an opportunity to push for a midwifery model of care - and
an extension of the CMW.
