Hi there Alphia It is the KGV hospital with the wonderful Val Smith and her team doing the leg work. They have a proposal ready to go to NSW Health. The KGV proposal recommends that IPMs be contracted to supply homebirth services for the Central Sydney Area Health Service. I think the idea is for KGV to bill the Govt $3000 (that's what a birth costs in hospital) for each home birth and then pay a contract fee to the IPM out of that. IPMs contracted to the Area Health Board would have their PI Insurance covered via the same scheme as the hospital employed midwives. We are waiting with bated breath to hear of any positive moves to implement such a proposal. Jan -- This mailing list is sponsored by ACE Graphics.
