I used to live in the US & accessing health care without health insurance is pretty brutal!
I don't know about obstetricians, but a couple of national midwifery organisations are the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) & Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) & they both have referral services online. I'm certain an obstetrician will be more expensive than a midwife. My aunt lives an hour out of Long Beach & had a great obstetrician if she'd like a personal referral. Hope that helps.
