Me too. They seem to be a weird breed. Alice's bub is doing really well...feeding like it's going out of style, sleeping 4-5 and a half hours (at less than a week), is bright as a button when she is awake, etc. the dream baby, but the mchn made her wake her up to be weighed the other day and wants to do it weekly. I'm sure this kind of obsession with babies' weight leads to obsession with weight and body image throughout life.

Sally,

I so agree with you - your 1st 2 sentences largely describes my personal
experience with them too - and it's partly why I'm contacting the list,
because brand new parenthood can be a time of such insecurities, when one's
former convictions and ideas can be tested as you confront the
life-changing, all-consuming and sometimes isolating circumstances of caring
for your first newborn - and particularly so for SIL & my brother after the
caesar.  One thing Cate said about the birth was, "The last thing I ever
expected was a caesar..." and I strongly suspect her pre-birth confidence
may have crumbled a little, so am looking to support her with good info and
informed opinion etc.

Thanks,

Jo
