We learn by doing the exam on women, with
their consent, and awareness that we are students. In the days I did mid
training they may not have been aware we were students. Lets face it, we all
have to learn our craft, and internal exams can only be learnt by practical
means. Like birthing your first baby, or giving that first injection, theory can
only teach so much. After awhile an astute, trusting midwife doesn't
need to do a lot of exams. Most women are very happy to have
students caring for them especially those having third etc
babies. Maureen
