I would just guess that there maybe a genetic basis for some preterm births (but not all or even most) like there does seem to be a genetic link/causality for some pre-eclampsia (but not all or most). So, I think it would be worth asking the cause of the preterm births, remembering of course that she may have inherited traits from her father's side or they may be dominant. whether or not they are indicators of this woman's liklihood of preterm or even early birth such discussion may bring to light issues around labour, birth, and postpartum that need discussion.  I am always one for talking things through. I don't think talking about something fuels it to be a self-fullfiling prophecy, but I have a hunch ignoring it might (or not), I really don't know the evidence on that.

No medical info but my cousin who was born at 30 weeks had two full term boys and happy births. She didnt seem to have any fears about her own pregnancies or births and was healthy throughout.

Subject: [ozmidwifery] do prems have prems?

Greetings wise people,
I'm hoping that someone can answer my question, One of the women that I'm involved with was born three months premature as was her brother.
She seems convinced that her first baby is going to come early. My Question is, If you were a prem baby does it mean that you have a higher chance of having a prem baby your self?
I need to support her and I cant find any evidence or information on this anywhere.
Thankyou in anticipation, Julie'',
