Just as a point of interest... we paid...   $850 extra for doc insurance $350 extra for the anaesthetist (wasn't covered by gap cover) $96.50 extra for the paediatrician because well babies aren't covered by insurance while in hospital, only those that go to NICU or SCN.   This is on top of paying for my midwife, acupuncture, the extra visits with my obstetrician I had to pay for my final week before Daniel was born plus the gap not covered by medicare for my regular visits, the sonogram that was done the day before his birth and the CTG that was done a few days prior.   It really sucks! I won't be going to see a doc at all next time if there is a next time!
