Just wanted to add my voice to the growing crowd of long term breastfeeders.  My son is also 5 and 1/2 years.  He still "gets on" for a couple of minutes every few nights but went through a bit of a grieving process when the milk "dried up" about a year ago.    I also have a story to tell about a visit to a GP.  I was there for a pap smear and she asked me about my past history including length of time breastfeeding.  When I told her that Richard ( then 4 years) still fed at night some times ...........he (Richard) who was playing in the toy box beside me, piped up and added " and in the morning!"  Oh yea I said......we both laughed.    Anyway, all I can say is he is also a happy, healthy boy and comfort sucking has certainly helped us many times over the years to soothe him and stop that downward spiral.      Helen Cahill
